Stinging Nettles- An Unexpected Pain Reliever?

On the face of it, it might seem like stinging nettles are the last thing that would help provide pain relief. After all, most of us will associate them with painful childhood memories of running into long grass, only to emerge covered in those tiny barbs that cause such agony. However, you might be surprised to learn that nettles are actually an effective method of providing pain relief for a number of conditions, including arthritis, gout, migraines, and general joint and muscle pain- which is why it’s a key ingredient in our Full Life Reuma-Art tablets!

With so much negative press for prescription and over-the-counter medications, plenty of people are now turning to traditional, age-old pain relievers. One of these methods involves applying stinging nettle leaves to the affected area- known as urtication, after the plant’s scientific name Urtica Dioca. Stinging nettles are covered in tiny needles, which break off and implant themselves in the skin when you touch them. While they cause irritation and itchiness for most people- only to be expected, since they’re the plant’s defence mechanism- they actually contain certain chemicals, including histamine and serotonin, which act as effective anti-inflammatories. That means that they can provide relief from conditions such as arthritis, and allow you to still move your joints just like you used to without suffering from unbearable pain.

This traditional method has a couple of downsides, however. First, and most obviously, is the fact that getting stung by a nettle isn’t a particularly pleasant experience to say the least. While the pain caused by your condition will be relieved, it will be replaced by the aforementioned itchiness and irritation- not what you want when you’re supposed to be getting rid of that pain in the first place. Secondly, you’ll need fresh nettles each time, and have to apply it locally- not many people keep a large crop of stinging nettles in their garden!

Luckily, though, we’ve solved these problems for you by boiling down the nettles, and putting their active ingredients into our tablets. You’ll be able to benefit from nettles’ amazing anti-inflammatory properties- noted around the world- without having to go about whipping yourself with the leaves like something out of The Da Vinci Code. You’ll also be able to avoid the nasty side effects that can come with pharmaceutical pain relievers, since we only use all-natural ingredients in our products. Why not make the most of all that nature has to offer, and give them a try today!
